Leighton Glynn Perkins

Leighton G. Perkins, 94, passed away at home with his wife Patricia by his side. Leighton was born in Baker City, OR to Geneva and Glynn Perkins on September 4, 1924.

He was in the US Marine Corps from 1944-1946 in the South Pacific. He was a proud graduate of OSU following his service in WWII. After graduation, he worked for Federal Land Bank for 30 years and served in Clackamas County planning commission. He married his wife Patricia Riede on June 12, 1954 in Corvallis, OR.

Leighton was also a lifetime member of the Oregon Association of Nurseries. He spent his retirement years puttering around Perks Nursery selling Christmas Trees up to his 91st year and fishing whenever he could.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia; daughters, Susan Phillips (Don) of Sparks, NV and Judy Perkins (Rick Guard) of Beavercreek, OR; grandchildren, Josh and Kendra; and greatgrandchildren, J.J. and Ryland. He is preceded in death by his son, Dan.

A service will be held at the Canby Funeral Chapel at 1PM on December 15, 2018. He will be buried at the Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Oregon Association of Nurseries Scholarships.
