Charles "Chuck" Henry Wilcken
date of birth June 20 1949
date of death June 5 2019
All too soon Chuck has left us behind to wonder how we will get along without him. Chuck passed away unexpectedly June 5th, 2019 from a torn aorta. It was not in his plan to leave us so soon as he was planning to commemorate his 70th birthday and partial cancer remission by running a 4th of July 5k with his daughters, sons-in-laws, and grandchildren. Charles Henry Wilcken, or Chuck to all, was born on June 20, 1949 in Portland Oregon to CH (Satch) and Thea Wilcken. He graduated from Colton High In 1967. He served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central America and then continued his education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He majored in math and minored in Spanish. He married his love, Terry, in the Salt Lake Temple, May 25, 1973. Because of his love to help others learn and grow, he earned his teaching certificate and spent many years being referred to as Mr. Wilcken and the guy with all the jokes.
Chuck also enjoyed working many years with the Colton and Oregon City basketball programs, coaching and keeping scores and stats. Chuck loved playing basketball and dominoes, logging, cutting wood, and working the property. He also enjoyed visiting with friends, ward and community members and telling jokes. He was a problem solver and could always be counted on rendering service, fixing things, and helping others.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 46 years,Terry, his 5 daughters. Stacy (Dan) Tueller, Krista (Brad) Barker, Melissa (Leo) Wilcken Gutierrez, Ashlee (Patrick) McCrary, and Catelyn (Justin) Moeller. Also his 14 grandchildren, his sister Chris (Eric) Bjarnson, and nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lasha.
