Cleophas (Cleo) Wolf

Cleophas (Cleo) Wolf passed away at home on the evening of June 7, 2020, at the age of 95, in the care of his family. His final weeks were spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and other loved ones.

Cleo was born December 18, 1924, in Hillsview, South Dakota, the son of German immigrants, and moved to Missouri in the 1930s and then Oregon during the 1940s. He served in Okinawa and Japan during World War II. He returned to Oregon after the war and worked for a short time as a ship fitter.Most of his career was as a car inspector for the Southern Pacific Railroad, including at Brooklyn Yards in SE Portland, until his retirement in 1987.

Cleo and his late wife, Marjorie Jean Sinclair, were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Portland on January 1, 1953. During their 59 years together they raised six children, managed a working farm, were very active members of St Patrick's Catholic Church, traveled all over the world by car, RV, plane, and ship, and remained very much in love.

Cleo maintained his beloved farm in Canby, giving all his family a wonderful place to visit and explore.

Cleo was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, parents Melchior Wolf and Mary Strouckel; grandson Stephen; and siblings Alvina, Valentine, Johanna, Genevieve, Marian, Melchior, Joseph, Magdalen, Ralph, Tillie, Eugene, Adam, and Clara. He is survived by his brother Ben; his six children Lew, Lisa, Susan (Gallagher), Marcus, Jonathon, and Marjorie Joyce (Branum); 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be on Thursday, June 18, at 11 am at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Canby. A rosary will be held at 10.30am at the church. Both are for family members only, but will be live streamed for others who wish to join at www.facebook.com/Stpatrickcanby.

Memorial gifts may be presented to St. Patrick Catholic Church, PO Box 730, Canby, Oregon.

Committal will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery on New Era and 99E north of Canby.
