date of death August 28 2020

Robert Dale Jorgensen died of a heart attack the evening of Friday August 28th, 2020. he was 92.

Robert was born April 22, 1928 in New England, North Dakota to Jorgen and Pearl Jorgensen. He was the youngest of 8 children and the last of those siblings to pass away. The family moved to Milton Freewater, Oregon in October of 1942. There he was active with his 2 older sisters Ottomena, Ruth, oldest sibling James, and their families. He met Verla May Andrews, married her and had a son, Leland. They were together for a short time, then divorced.

Bob had always been an entrepreneur throughout his adult life, starting several businesses along his path. He was a service station owner in the Lovejoy district of Portland, Oregon: an appliance installer, then a motorcycle dealer in the 60's. He began a long haul trucking service contracted to Pacific Chain & Mfg Co. He met Joanne Mae Hamblen and they were married in May 1957. They raised two more boys, Mitch and Doug Jorgensen, along with Lee.

He moved his family to Molalla, Oregon, in the winter of 1973, and started a rock crushing and delivery service on Wilhoit Road. From there he expanded into ready mixed concrete and renamed his business Molalla Redi-Mix and Rock Products. His sons all came to work for him eventually, and in 1997, he sold the business to Doug and Mitch Jorgensen. Bob's oldest son Lee, joined them as a driver in the year 2000.

One of the highlights of Bob's service to Molalla came in 1984 when the local Kiwanis Club awarded him with a plaque naming him "Citizen of the Year" for his donated work helping to build the BMX Bike Track in Molalla. Bob was very generous, donating to several projects around the area during his time as owner of Molalla Redi-Mix. He was always found at the "Y" Drive In, then in retirement at the Molalla Bowl as a member of "The Table of Knowledge". He assisted his sons doing errands and parts runs in his retired years; and spending time with his wife and caring for her until she passed away in March 2017.

He is survived by Mitch and Doug Jorgensen, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Leland proceeded him in death in May 2019.

A private funeral service will be held Friday September 11th, 2020 with interment at Adams Cemetery in Molalla, Oregon.
