Gerald Lee Philpot

date of birth July 31 1931

date of death January 18 2021

Gerald Lee Philpot walked himself right up to heaven’s door on 01/18/2021.
In the end dementia may have gotten him, but for 89 and a half years, we his family, and all who knew him —-> we got the best of him, his love, compassion, respect, and generosity.

He met the love of his life when he returned from his tour with the Army.

I can still hear dad tell us about his and mom’s first date, but the important fact is that dad had no idea he was even on a date. Completely clueless.

Gerald and Lois were happily married for 65 years.
Their home in Molalla was the center hub for holiday celebrations and family birthdays.

He worked in the timber industry for many years, then after Crown Zellerback closed down he took a job driving a log truck.
He finished his working career as a custodian at the Canby school district.
He also grew Christmas trees and every year it was a family event working together to get them cut, bailed, and loaded on trucks to be sent to market.

A man of strong faith, Gerald was an active and dedicated member of The Methodist Church.
He volunteered many hours of his time to help with any maintenance task around the church.

He was a hero to his family and was happy to the end.

Gerald and Lois are now together again, united in eternity.

He is survived by his sister Bernice, three children, Bob, Dennis, and Pat,
five grandchildren, Jennifer, Emily, Craig, Keyper, and Griffen,
three great grandchildren Andy, Megan, and David.

Gerald was someone who understood the love of life and had a firm understanding of what was important—> the simplicity of living a life with those you love.
If there was a poster child for the statement: Do unto others as you would have done unto you,—-> he would be that face.
I love that we can honor him in life and in his passing every day with a kind word, a smile, or how can I help you today.

Someone this special will never be forgotten!

He will be laid to rest at Rock Creek Cemetery in Canby, Oregon.
